How branding helps you to sell without sleaze?

Selling without the sleaze and pushing is very important for many entrepreneurs. They want to be authentic and make people buy the products out of love. Luckily, it’s what branding does.

How?

  • First, brands start with the customers in mind.
  • Second, brands position themselves effectively.

One of the most widespread issues with online coaches is that they can’t explain what do they do. And if people don’t know what you do, they will not buy. Imagine someone asks: “What do you do?”, And you say: “I’m an Empowerment Coach”, and they ask: “Well, what exactly does it mean?” and you answer: “I empower people”. Frankly, your customer has lost interest, they neither got a clear answer nor will remember it. In such a situation you will need to put a lot of effort to sell. Make a clear offer!

Branded content will position you as a go-to-expert in your niche. It will help prospects to make a decision and believe in your skills. If you sell VIP packages, you will need to talk to people, but they will come prepared with the belief that you have what they want.

As brand knows its customers, it's building the products accordingly. The products that sell what customer wants always win. It’s easier to sell what your customer wants than create a demand in the vacuum. To conclude; brands know their customers, they sell them what they want so that they have a clear offer. Also, they get the top position in the market niche. It helps clients to make decisions quickly, and you do not need to convince them, maybe just a little bit. To help you build a successful brand that sells without sleaze I’ve created this mini course and checklist. Right now you can get it for free!

What your branded YouTube channel can learn from “Marie TV” by Marie Forleo?

Women entrepreneurs need inspiration. Everyone loves Oprah, but when we ask business ladies which branded Youtube channels they watch, they would often refer to the channels that belong to famous male entrepreneurs. Luckily we have Marie TV created by a very successful and prominent public figure and business woman Marie Forleo. She is a true inspiration for millions of women around the world. So what can we learn from it?

One of the best ways to learn is to look what successful entrepreneurs do and think how it can benefit your business. And then implement it. Sort of stalking, but for good 🙂

The truth is those successful entrepreneurs, who already have big companies, also have a big budget to research and follow the trends. Not because they are smarter than you, but because research made by the big teams with wider abilities. That’s why they show better results at the end of the day.

Last month I studied Marie Forleo’s YouTube channel “Marie TV.”And here are a few observations:

  1. Her videos at the beginning 2011-2013 look like yours and mine (home made not that pro). She was not born as a TV star and made her videos in T-shirts with casual background and no special light. And it’s fine if you have such videos on your YouTube channel, relax, no one expects Oprah from you at the beginning.
  2. She is very consistent and posts regularly. More importantly, she sends her viewers to her blog almost in every video and asks them to
  • Tweet,
  • add a comment to the blog,
  • ask questions

Always add strategic Call to Action! She doesn’t ask them to subscribe usually. She asks them to participate in the discussion or spread the word. Why? Because she builds the connection and the public conversation around her brand!

  1. She was always the play sweet and funny TV host, and frankly, it was always a bit artificial. Like some local TV. If you would see her in interviews, she behaves differently and much more serious just like any business lady would. Now she gets it! Recently she introduced a whole new series. And for all those who say that there is no place for pyjamas on YouTube, here it is! The series called Marie Unplugged, she just shows her normal life, just her, her friends, her partner, no makeup, nothing artificial. I bet she will double her sales and popularity with it 😉 Because now she is authentic like never before, believable, trustworthy and down to the Earth.

I hope this observation will help you to create your own BRANDED YouTube channel where you show the true colours of your brand, your personality and unique gifts. Means you will be you, your biz will be your biz, and your brand will rock :).
Also, notice how she uses her tagline to make her channel memorable!

Remember, there are no limits for creativity 🙂

Five ways how to convert your ideas into visual form?

As I position myself as a specialist in visual communication, I was often asked, how to convert your ideas into visual form? The first and foremost, ask yourself questions and do research.

Here are five ways that you can use for it:

  1. Ask yourself a question about what your customer will feel and think about your page or site or design? Describe it in details, think what triggered those thoughts, Images, colours, design, style?
  2. Play in association game. Write 20-50 associations that can be related to your project. Eliminate all unnecessary and shortlist ten or even five. Look for these words in Google image search and on Pinterest to find an inspiration
  3. Choose the colour scheme. Many sites can help you to choose the colour scheme based on photos. I like this one for inspiration
  4. Try to look on your project from the fashion perspective. What style will you choose for your project, Retro, Vintage, Modern, Couture, Ethno?
  5. If your project would be an art, who will be the artist of this masterpiece? Yes, knowing art is important as it increases your horizons and helps you to understand visual communication better. This resource may help you to find inspiration!

Five steps of getting a brand out there in an already saturated market.

People love systems, step by step guides, roadmaps, so they ask about it. Consider this is the checklist of the top 5 methods that you will apply to your brand sooner or later 🙂

Clarity

Successful Branding is always about clarity. Unless you know who your clients are, it’s difficult to reach right ears. Clarity on this comes with research and tonnes of interviews with your potential prospects. Once they tell you what problems they have, you are halfway through. Now you know what they want.

Offer

Build your offer based on customers’ desires and add in it what they need to achieve results. Offers that sell theory sells poorly and rarely bring returning customers. Those people who got results will buy again and will invite more customers.

Five steps of getting a brand out there in an already saturated market.,

Positioning

Brand Positioning is powerful. What place does your brand take in a customer’s mind? Do they know what your brand is all about? Do they know why your brand does what it does? Do they know what your brand stands for and where it leads customers?
Positioning answers a few questions: Who does it? Who is the target audience? How it is beneficial and different? And why clients can trust this brand?

Authority

So if you follow the lead by now, you already know: to whom you sell, what you sell, and why they buy. It’s time to build an authority. A good product is never enough. Great marketing and branding help clients to make a choice in a crowded market and join your brand tribe. How to achieve it? The valuable content that brings result and a logical addition to the curated content will do it for you. People need to see you as the go-to expert, they need to know that you know your subject and can help them to find the solution. They need to know that you know this subject in depth and ability to help them.

Awareness

Ok, now what? You have a lot of content, and you post it to your blog, but nobody read. Posting to your blog is not enough. You need to show up via social media. You need to visit offline meetings (depends on your business model). You need to communicate as much as you can. Give interviews, take interviews, take part in public events. Be present on professional networks. There are thousands of ways how you can spread the word and it is different for every business. Find your way to be visible and find some eyeballs for your content.

P.S. We all know that valuable content needs an excellent wrapping. Join brand + Photo School and become the Creative Director of your business.

3 whales of online branding

Creating your brand online is a different exercise than if you do it offline. That’s why people who have a successful business offline often stack when they start online branding at the first time. So, how is it different?

→ The first whale for any brand is a creation of the authority.

And surely if you have an excellent reputation offline you may share some credibility, but quite often it’s not relevant for an online tribe. It’s a first step where many businesses fail. Inability to create a reason to believe in causes them lack of customers and a result they had to close.

→ The second whale is to raise awareness.

How much publicity do you apply to your offline business? None or little? In the online world, you and your company must be visible and memorable. Without visibility, you can’t expand your biz. The only business where you can succeed by being invisible, it’s if you are a 007 agent. And if you are not the one, then please create a strategy on how to show up.

→ The third whale Is to be different.

The point of differentiation and point of parity put you in a position when you have whatever everybody else have in your market segment and also you have something extra that gives you a chance to overrun your competitors. (And yes competition is a sign of demand, and that means abundance)

Let’s conclude. Authority + Awareness + Difference.

These three whales are the core needs of any brand, and later I will share with you how to achieve all these. Subscribe to be sure that you do not miss it.

How do you make your brand memorable?

So how do you make your brand memorable? The truth is, your customers do not have time to read long posts, remember every glittery point, illegible fonts and thousands of pictures which you re-post from the other sites. If you want to build your brand and make it memorable, the first rule is to remove all that is not necessary!

Your personal brand is a promise to your clients… a promise of quality, consistency, competency, and reliability.
~ Jason Hartman

Three visual elements are needed to be consistent:

  • Your colours (not necessary one colour)
  • Your fonts (not necessary one font)
  • Your visual treatment (unique style for your photos and design)

Check my video from the group where I was talking about it 🙂

But let’s go deeper!

I want to talk about the relationship between your brand and your customers, that you’re building in your content. We were talking about your target audience and about whom you have been writing for, recently. But when you just know the demographics and talk to women between 34 to 45, you may also want to address some aspects of their life that the demographics alone are not enough to cover.

Now is the time when we need to talk about your brand values. The goal of this series is to create an understanding of what brand consistency is, why, and how it works for your business. Your brand must have values which are close to your heart, but also reflect the values of your ideal clients. Define what you. It’s not easy, especially if I tell you that you need to reduce all that fun to just three values.

Here is the task. Define your business in three words.

  • What does it?
  • What is it that you can’t?
  • What do your clients value in life and whom you want to?

Your values will attract the right tribe to your brand.

For example, my values are Excellence, Freedom and Creativity.
The excellence is all about the quality I provide – the best possible quality, under the given circumstances. That’s why I often “fight” with my clients for their brand. Freedom is my “why” and my value. But I know the rules, and that gives me an understanding on how to break them. Creativity is defined by what I do in the creative approach to the visual execution, design, photography, to brand personality and brand creation. My values are not only related and define what I do; they also define how do I do it. Obviously, I prefer to work with clients who love quality and respect creative freedom.

In conclusion, you need to define three values which will work for your biz and your customers.

Describe your brand in three words. Now think — what can you do to make customers remember what your brand is. For example, if one of the is “excellence”, what will you do? Surely, your will work in the best way you can, and then customers will say that “they are an excellent company”. Use this word in your communication in such a way that the clients remember it and use it when they spread the word about your brand.
